Day 1 – Introduction & Safety

Introduction to welding processes (SMAW overview)

Welding workshop rules and safe conduct

PPE awareness (gloves, helmet, clothing, ventilation, etc.)

Understanding welding machines (types, components, settings)

Electrode basics (types and uses)
Day 2 – Basic Welding Skills

Striking and maintaining an arc (theory only)

Understanding current, polarity and electrode selection

Basic weld beads (stringer beads concept)

Metal preparation (cleaning surfaces, joint types)
Day 3 – Welding Joint Types

Introduction to flat-position welding
-
Fillet joints (theory and practice outline)

Butt joints (theory and practice outline)
-
Common weld defects and how they are identified (not how to fix)
Day 4 – Applied Welding Tasks

Plate welding in flat position
-
Building confidence in bead placement

Intro to horizontal position welding

Visual inspection techniques (no hazardous methods)
Day 5 – Evaluation & Finishing

Review of welding principles

Visual assessment of sample welds

Basic maintenance awareness for welding equipment

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
– x 1 certified ID copy,
(Foreign nationals: x1 certified passport copy, x1 certified residential visa copy, x1 certified copy of student/work permit)
– School certificate, x 1 certified copy thereof, (minimum Grade 9)
– Completed OTT registration form
