WELDING SUPER SHORT ARC COURSE

Day 1 – Introduction & Safety

  • Introduction to welding processes (SMAW overview)

  • Welding workshop rules and safe conduct

  • PPE awareness (gloves, helmet, clothing, ventilation, etc.)

  • Understanding welding machines (types, components, settings)

  • Electrode basics (types and uses)


Day 2 – Basic Welding Skills

  • Striking and maintaining an arc (theory only)

  • Understanding current, polarity and electrode selection

  • Basic weld beads (stringer beads concept)

  • Metal preparation (cleaning surfaces, joint types)


Day 3 – Welding Joint Types

  • Introduction to flat-position welding

  • Fillet joints (theory and practice outline)

  • Butt joints (theory and practice outline)

  • Common weld defects and how they are identified (not how to fix)


Day 4 – Applied Welding Tasks

  • Plate welding in flat position

  • Building confidence in bead placement

  • Intro to horizontal position welding

  • Visual inspection techniques (no hazardous methods)


Day 5 – Evaluation & Finishing

  • Review of welding principles

  • Visual assessment of sample welds

  • Basic maintenance awareness for welding equipment

  • Feedback session and completion recognition

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

– x 1 certified ID copy,
(Foreign nationals: x1 certified passport copy, x1 certified residential visa copy, x1 certified copy of student/work permit)
– School certificate, x 1 certified copy thereof, (minimum Grade 9)
– Completed OTT registration form
